Our Story

We want our customers to have an enjoyable experience with us and we want them to love their IKEA® kitchens.

IKAN was started by two friends who met in Camosun’s carpentry program in Victoria, BC. Kyler and Anthony had worked for a range of homebuilders and installed many kitchens, and one day got talking about something that had struck both of them: The cost for a quality kitchen on the island was too high. Not long after that conversation Kyler installed an IKEA® kitchen and was impressed with the quality of the cabinets, the Blum hardware, the storage solutions, the customizable sizing, and the price point. And thus, IKAN was born. Today we employ more than 10 people, including certified carpenters and designers, and a host of dogs to keep us company at our warehouse.

We IKEA®

IKEA® cabinets inspired us to create IKAN—we believe in the product. IKEA® cabinets rank highest in overall customer satisfaction among cabinet brands in the J.D. Power U.S. Kitchen Cabinet Satisfaction Study of 1,700 customers. The cabinetry is high in quality, design, and function, and it’s backed by a 25-year warranty. That’s most important in our books. Also, you can customize the cabinetry to fit your space at a fraction of the cost of a custom kitchen.

"Creating a kitchen is incredibly personal. Our designers work closely with clients to bring ideas together, to incorporate the client’s wish list, and to also create the most efficient use of space." – Kyler Davalovsky, Owner

We our community… and dogs

We know small businesses play an important role in Victoria’s community and economy and we’re proud to be a part of that. We also know it’s our responsibility to give back, and one of the ways we do that is by supporting rescue animal shelters. We also support community kitchen projects so more people in our community can have nutritious meals.

"It's incredible to see the collaboration and support that runs through the team. It's as much of what motivates me as anything else." – Kyler Davalovsky, Owner

We our planet

We are working in a number of ways to minimize our business’s footprint. We utilize great software so our office is virtually paperless, we recycle and reuse everything we can, and we carpool when possible. Part of our draw to IKEA® kitchens is because of IKEA®’s commitment to the environment, which you can read about here.
