Classic styling ruled when it came to designing this kitchen in Sidney. The homeowners wanted a timeless kitchen, which is what led them pair IKEA STAT doors with black iron handles from Lee Valley Tools for a colour combination that can change with the years simply by adding accent colours. Classic hardwood floors and dark countertops paired with white cabinetry give the kitchen warmth and depth.
Initially, the homeowners discussed removing the wall separating the kitchen and living room to create an open plan with a larger eating area but IKAN Kitchen Designer and Principal Designer of MINT Design, Alexis Solomon, had a better idea: rather than moving walls, Alexis' design included repositioning appliances and working with a peninsula to create more space, lots of storage and enough seating to satisfy the homeowner's needs without requiring a major renovation. The homeowners' new kitchen has the open plan feel they wanted with a massive eating area for entertaining and tons of natural light provided by the skylights above.
