Sarah and Dennis' home in View Royal has a spectacular view of the ocean but their old kitchen was obscured from the view and separate from the home's great living space. Instead of closed off rooms Sarah and Dennis wanted to create a great room that would allow them to spend time with their family and friends while cooking and increase the natural light in their kitchen. By taking down walls between the kitchen and laundry room on one side and the kitchen and living room on the other, as well as adding three more skylights to the ceiling, they now have a space absolutely bathed in natural light from all sides.
Sarah and Dennis are serious cooks and chose to incorporate an amazing Blue Star gas range and also a prep sink in the island into their kitchen design. They chose their own finishings, like the dramatic iron drawer pulls and knobs, marble wall tiles and a very striking stone for the countertops. The IKEA doors used in this project were RAMSJO in white and IKAN also installed RAMSJO around their fireplace as built-ins to tie the two rooms together.
Since their full kitchen renovation Sarah and Dennis now have a space fully deserving of the incredible meals they cook together.
