When we look at these before and after pictures it really drives it home what a difference new cabinets can make to a small kitchen. This is a home near Thetis Lake on a beautiful, sunny street--but as you can see the kitchen was in need of more storage and a fresh look.
The homeowner kept the galley layout, but got much more storage with the new cabinetry. She chose a classic shaker style in a medium brown birch veneer. This is the style (now called Grimslov, from IKEA).
Her new cabinets reach the ceiling, which makes the ceilings feel taller and thesmall roombigger, adds extra storage, and eliminates the need to dust. She complementedthe warm brown cabinetswith a timeless neutral tile backsplash and chrome handles.
We useda slim drawer on the right side of the stove to make sure that no food is forgotten in the back of cupboard, and everything is easy to access. That little space can hold a lot of goods!
The glass-panel doors break up the solid wood and bringmore light into the space. The under-cabinet lighting cast a warm glow on the room, especially in the evening.
